Today, we launch our new website and with it, we renew our commitment to great Australian financial planning practices that seek outstanding business and licensing services.
We’ve been listening to the growing chorus of financial planners who want more from their licence provider. More value. More leadership. More innovation. More opportunity to be client facing and achieve business success.
If I may, I’d like to take this opportunity to share what we’ve learned.
We’re in the advice business. We’re passionate about it, we care about our financial planners and we certainly care about the end-user financial planning client.
In 2010, Ray Miles founded Fortnum along with a number of others who had industry ‘lived-experience’ and believed financial planners and their clients should expect more, indeed they were entitled to more from their licence provider.
That licensing ethos pledged to support financial planners with quality services so they could, in turn, deliver quality services to their clients. It remains the DNA of our business and licensing services today.
In 2017, I joined Fortnum from a background in institutional licensee management. I knew the industry and I had a strong appreciation for the change sweeping the advisory landscape. I also knew Fortnum was different. Passionate about embracing change and committed to their advice firms. They were different – better, much better, because of their planner-centric approach.
At this moment in 2022, Fortnum has 230 financial planners across 94 practices that are generating on average $1.2M revenue p.a.
Fortnum as well as our financial planning practices are enjoying healthy growth.
I believe our growth is a direct result of our complete service proposition that we continue to develop and evolve based on what our financial planning practices need. We are continuously seeking feedback and take this very seriously as it shapes our business priorities.
We understand our financial planners must be well supported to create sustainable, capable and successful financial planning practices. Therefore, our service offering is nimble and agile which, based on recent feedback from our financial planners, has allowed us to recently pivot our priorities to embark on new efficiency and practice projects.
We have always had a strong pedigree in governance and compliance, which underpins all that we do. We have also built strong capabilities in technology that support our practices to integrate the ongoing compliance changes in the most effective manner.
Again, in response to practice feedback, we created a technology stack that offers choice and enables efficient and effective delivery of advice day to day. Our technology stack is continuously reviewed to ensure that our financial planning practices have the best options in market to deliver the best advice to clients.
We understand our financial planners must be well supported to create sustainable and successful financial planning businesses.
To that end, we work closely with our financial planners to ensure they have the tools, competencies, capabilities and confidence to operate, grow and be successful.
Our support also comes in the form of our research, portfolio consulting services, and our MDA licence that facilitates those activities in alignment with our strong commitment to learning and development.
While we have brought these and other key services together, what really sets Fortnum apart are our values and the culture behind them.
We believe in community. The collective energy, intelligence and contribution of our people and our Fortnum community.
It provides uncommon leverage for financial planners to walk beside other great planners and quality practices to learn and benefit from different perspectives, ideas and the collective genius of those interactions.
We also believe in entrepreneurial spirit.
Our founder had it, and we proactively encourage everyone in our community to adopt it. We are of the view that change will be driven by entrepreneurial thinking which affords us the best opportunity for continued growth in our business, and for the financial planning practices in our Fortnum community.
